It wasn't until the Moon landings and NASA showed the Vatican photos of Earth as a globe that they finally offically accepted it as such. I'm not surprised that some still believe in nonsense despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. That's the same problem with creationists as well. No amount of real evidence is ever going to convince these fools of reality.
